Dr. Kristie Johns’ educational background demonstrates a strong foundation in both biological sciences and veterinary medicine. She earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Michigan State University’s Lyman Briggs College in 1994. This was followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. In 2021, Dr. Johns further expanded her expertise by becoming a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through Chi University. Her academic achievements are further recognized by her induction into The Society of Phi Zeta Honor Society of Veterinary Medicine in 1999.
Dr. Johns has been practicing veterinary medicine for 25 years. She is passionate about animal health and welfare and feels blessed to be in a field where she can make a difference in both pet patients and pet parents quality of life. While western medicine is her main focus of interest, she also embraces the concepts of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine in an effort to offer her patients the most comprehensive options in care. Continuing education is a priority for her. She is currently studying to receive certification in veterinary herbal therapy, as well as canine rehabilitation. Additional areas of interest are surgery, wound management, ophthalmology, nutrition and animal behavior.
